Big changes going on here at Blind Mice central. We were sad to bid farewell last month to our bass player Rick Hanson, who left us because of family commitments. We loved playing with Rick and wish him the best. This left us somewhat at sea over the upcoming recording, planned gigs for the summer, etc.
But, because situations usually work out for the best, we are happy to announce the solution along with the problem. We are really excited to be welcoming David Mack as our new bassist! David is a regular on the Bismarck scene, most visibly as a guitarist for Lost Horses. But his background and heart are with the low end, and his years of playing slap bass in New Orleans are heavily evident in the funk-tinged grease he brings to our sound. We’ve already had a couple of rehearsals with Dave, and we have upped our funk level by a factor of ten. You can’t wait to hear this guy, truly.
So–the CD will happen, but we’re going to take most of the summer to rehearse and play the gigs on the schedule already. We’re hoping to get all the old and new tunes tight and reworked to accomodate David’s basslines, so that we can go into the studio in late July or early August to lay it down right. Thus the release gig has been moved to September 11th, still in Custer Park. You’ll hear much more about that before it happens.
Check out the concert dates page, and make sure to catch us at one of those gigs this summer. Come out, say hi to David, and get your groove on with Blind Mice. See you there.
