Dancing in the Grass

Today’s post is to honor our most loyal fan and an integral part of the band. Eva is the original Blind Mice dancer–her groovy moves are a highlight of every show, and it usually takes her less than one song to get a whole group of people up and shakin’ it. At today’s show she jump-started a circle dance and a conga line. Here’s a video of her dancing solo to our new song “Before I Sleep.” You go girl:

Custer Park pics and video

We had a great time playing the opening show of DWAC’s Brown Bag Series at Custer Park on Wednesday. There are three new videos up now on the “Watch and Listen” page: Ian’s drum solo, our new song “Ballad of Mythical Mark,” and an old Concrete Blonde song that features Traci Juhala on cello. Check them out!

Mandan Bandshell canceled

Unfortunately the freakish North Dakota weather (rain and a low of 40) has caused us to have to cancel the show scheduled for the Mandan bandshell tonight. Our apologies–we were really looking forward to playing for you. there are several other shows coming up–hopefully we’ll see you at some of those. Tonight, stay warm and dry.

Summer starts…

We had a great gig on Monday at the Heritage Center. It was a short set in front of an enthusiastic audience, and featured the debut of Rick Hanson, bass player extraordinaire:

New Mice!

We just had a great rehearsal with our new bass player, Rick Hanson. Rick will debut with us next Monday, June 1st, at the Heritage Center in Bismarck at 11:30 am. The gig is part of the Library’s Summer Reading Kick-Off event, whihc is lots of fun. It’s all day on the Capitol grounds, and features many activities for kids and their parents. Come to see us and then stay for the day.

Rick adds a lovely and much-needed bottom end ot the band. Also performing with us starting later this summer will be Traci Juhala on cello. We’re very excited about our new band members and about some new songs we’ll be doing this summer. We’ll have some concert dates to announce soon, but until then plan on 11:30 on June 1st. Be there, and be dancing!

Prairie Rose pics

We had a great time playing at Prairie Rose Elementary School last Friday. There was a good turn-out, and kids and parents alike seemed to have a good time, though they can hardly have had as much fun as we did. We debuted a new instrumental (“On the Road to Fargo”–see the Watch and Listen page), added some new covers, and dusted off some old stand-bys. And, if I may say so, we sounded like a thundering rock and roll storm. Here are some pictures:

Blind Mice at Prairie Rose

On Friday, March 20th, Blind Mice will be blowing the roof off the Prairie Rose Elementary School gym in Bismarck. We’ve been working on some new covers (if Ian singing Phil Collins doesn’t make you stop, drop, and roll, then you’re stronger than I) and cooking up some new songs of our own. There will be some keyboards in evidence, and (possibly) some guest musician action–though more on that as we find out.

The show is being sponsored by the Prairie Rose PTC, who will provide popcorn and drinks. Our first show with concessions–we’re moving up! The show is at 7pm and will last around an hour, I’m guessing. Come on out–sing, dance, eat, scream, or just lean against the wall looking bored. Either way, rock and roll in the gym, the way it was intended. We’ll try to channel Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future. Or not.

See you there…
